Walk-In Showers in St. Petersburg
St. Pete has character. The 1920s bungalows in the Old Northeast. The mid-century ranches in Pinellas Park. The downtown condos with sunset views over the bay. And a lot of bathrooms that have not been touched since the house was built.
We install walk-in showers across the city. The bungalow bathrooms are often tiny — which is exactly where a well-designed walk-in shower shines. Lose the tub, add glass, and suddenly the smallest room in the house feels open.
Coastal Considerations
Near the water, salt air eats standard fixtures. We recommend corrosion-resistant finishes for bathrooms within a few miles of the bay or Gulf. It costs a little more up front and saves a full fixture replacement in five years.
St. Pete's older homes also hide surprises — cast iron drains, galvanized supply lines, questionable past remodels. We open walls carefully and we tell you what we find before we proceed. No surprises on the invoice.
Bungalow Bathroom Layouts
The classic St. Pete bungalow bathroom is about 35 to 40 square feet — tub along one wall, toilet and sink squeezed in. The walk-in shower conversion works beautifully here because it does not need more space, just smarter space. We keep the plumbing wall where it is (moving drains in a slab foundation is expensive), replace the tub with a shower pan or custom tile base, and use glass to keep sight lines open. The result feels like a different room without moving a single wall. For the rare bungalow with room to expand, we can discuss bumping into an adjacent closet — but most do not need it.
Design-Forward, Not Overdone
This is an arts city. Our St. Pete clients tend to want showers with personality — handmade-look tile, matte black fixtures, a niche with an accent tile, a bench that actually gets used. We like that. A shower should reflect the house it is in.
