Walk-In Showers in Orlando
Orlando is a city of transplants, and a lot of them bought houses with bathrooms they inherited, not chose. The beige tub-surround from 2004. The tiny shower stall in the guest bath. The master bath that looked fine in the listing photos and less fine in person.
We install walk-in showers across Greater Orlando — from Winter Park colonials to Lake Nona new builds to the 1980s ranch homes ringing the city. Our most common job is the tub-to-shower conversion: same footprint, completely new bathroom.
Orlando's Hard Water Problem
Orlando has hard water, and it shows up on shower glass and fixtures as white spots that never quite come off. We plan for it: the right glass coatings, fixtures in finishes that hide mineral buildup (brushed nickel beats polished chrome here), and we will tell you honestly if a water softener is worth considering for the whole house.
Humidity and Waterproofing
Central Florida's humidity means a shower has to be waterproofed like it means it. We use full membrane systems behind all tile — not the old pan-liner-only method that fails at the curb and corners. It is the single biggest predictor of whether your shower lasts five years or twenty-five.
New Build vs. Retrofit
Orlando has both, and they are different jobs. In newer homes (2000s and up), the plumbing is modern and the bathroom was designed with a shower in mind — conversions are straightforward. In older homes, especially the 1970s and 80s ranch stock, we often find galvanized pipes, questionable prior remodels, and bathrooms that were clearly designed around the tub. The retrofit takes more detective work: we open walls carefully, replace what needs replacing, and build the new shower on a solid foundation. Either way, you get the same waterproofing standard and the same written price before we start.
