The short answer
Published 2026 cost guides put custom walk-in shower installations in Florida at roughly $8,000–$25,000, with most landing in the $12,000–$18,000 mid-range. That's for a professionally installed, properly waterproofed shower — not a DIY kit, not a one-day acrylic overlay.
A note on prices: any numbers on this page are starting points from published guides, not quotes. Material costs move, and no two bathrooms need the same work. Your written estimate after a free visit is the real number for your project.
What drives the price up or down
Size. A compact 36x36 shower costs less than a sprawling 5-foot curbless wet room. More square footage means more tile, more waterproofing, more labor.
Tile choice. Basic ceramic is the budget pick. Porcelain costs more and performs better in Florida humidity. Natural stone is the premium — beautiful, but it needs sealing and more care.
Glass. Frameless glass panels cost more than framed or semi-frameless. Custom-cut glass for odd angles costs more than standard sizes.
Plumbing changes. Keeping the drain and shower valve where they are saves real money. Moving a drain in a Florida slab foundation means cutting concrete — that's a big cost jump.
Demo. Pulling out an old fiberglass tub-shower unit is quick. Demoing a tile tub surround with a cast-iron tub takes longer and costs more.
Curbless entry. No-curb showers need precise floor sloping and linear drains. The craftsmanship costs more, but the look and feel are worth it to many homeowners.
What a proper quote includes
A real quote should list: demo and disposal, plumbing rough-in, waterproofing system, tile and setting materials, tile labor, glass, fixtures (valve, showerhead, grab bars if wanted), permits, and cleanup. If a quote is just "shower remodel" with one number and no breakdown, ask what's actually in it.
Red flags in pricing
- Suspiciously cheap. A $4,000 "custom tile shower" in Florida is cutting corners somewhere — usually waterproofing. You'll pay for it later in mold remediation.
- No written quote. Verbal prices evaporate. Get it in writing.
- "We don't need permits." Most Florida cities require permits for shower remodels involving plumbing changes. Skipping them risks problems at resale.
